LinkedIn Art Licensing Community Reaches 2,000 Members

Cherish Flieder is pleased to announced today that the ArtOfLicensing.com group on LinkedIn has reached the milestone mark of 2,000 members. This makes it the largest due-free online networking group for an international art licensing community.

Members including licensors (artists, illustrators, designers, and licensing agents), licensees (product manufacturers, producers, corporations) as well as supporting roles such as attorneys, technical professionals, and media members. Members also include many international art licensing professionals which promotes avenues of communication for cross-cultural ideas.

ArtOfLicensing.com also has a following on Twitter (Twitter.com/ArtOfLicensing) and Facebook (Groups.to/ArtOfLicensing) as well where members can dialogue about art licensing issues on their preferred social media platform. Through Twitter real-time feed of participating art licensing artists is also offered. Visitors can see a cross section of artists’ “tweet” updates that can be bookmarked in an RSS reader or enjoyed live on the Twitter platform (Twitter.com/ArtOfLicensing/art-licensing-artists).

The ArtOfLicensing.com group was founded in July 2008 by designer and art licensor Cherish Flieder (SomethingToCherish.com) as a way to bring those in the business of art licensing together in a supportive and cooperative format.

Members find LinkedIn’s platform easy to navigate and a natural extension of their individual LinkedIn profiles. Members exchange helpful ideas, news items, resources, report on trade shows, trends, and share information on marketing, copyrighting and licensing processes.

Mark’s Top 10 Proverbs of Freelancing

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

It is a privilege to be a part of such a creative community. The first creative organization I had the privilege of joining over a decade ago was the Colorado Alliance of Illustrators. It was a part of this group’s meetings and gallery shows  I eventually developed a respect and friendship with the talented illustrator and art licensor, Mark Bowers. Mark is a fellow Coloradoan artist who is celebrating his 10th anniversary as a freelancer after 16 years designing and illustrating at Current, Inc. To celebrate the occasion he wrote his “Top 10 Proverbs of Freelancing” of things he has learned along the way. He generously gave me permission to share them here with you.

“Top 10 Proverbs of Freelancing”

  1. When the client needs the work ASAP, he is really asking you to save the day. Do it and make him look great!
  2. Act like a business or you will look like a hobby.
  3. Your unique gifts are your unique solutions to the client’s unique problems.
  4. If you sell out on your values, the client won’t respect you in the morning.
  5. Persistence means to take longer than you thought and go through more obstacles than you imagined.
  6. Creativity embraces change. Change embraces creativity.
  7. Always start with a pencil and paper. If you start on the computer, your imagination will be stuck in a box.
  8. True success is rarely measured by the dollar, but seeking the dollar can provide immeasurable personal success.
  9. Perfect balance in life is difficult even for a scale. It’s ok, what is on it is always changing. Be glad about the right things on your scale and scrape off the dead weight.
  10. Be thankful to the One who gave you the talent and the guts to create something beautiful from nothing.

As I begin my eleventh year, I am looking forward to continued growth, and success in many different ways. I hope you are too. And if our paths should cross, may it be a pleasure to grow together.

My best to you,
Mark

FrameChangers Media Company Information

After falling into the TV and Computer time-trap, creator and founder Jennifer Cybart needed to surround herself with encouraging words from the Bible in a new way!  The traditional scripture written on note cards got lost and her kids used her Bible as a coloring book.

Inspired to put God’s Word and digital devices together, Jennifer decided to create FrameChangers as scripture art for your TV, Computer, Digital Picture Frames, iPhone and iPod Touch.  There are collections to meet the needs of women, men and kids with verses and art targeted for each individual.

“Seeing God’s Word in an artistic way on digital devices is an emotional and memorable experience,” says Jennifer.  She recruited her engineer husband, Adam, to ensure the highest quality product and with the help of graphic designers, web developers, and many supportive friends, FrameChangers became a reality.

As for the name FrameChangers?  She credits divine inspiration.  God wants to change our frame of mind. (Romans 12:2)

~ Here’s to many renewed minds, one frame at a time.
