Archive for Benjamin Hummel

I am blessed to be married to a handsome and talented artist who has an extraordinary view on celebrating life. My husband Benjamin Hummel and I will be celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary this June and he will also be celebrating 20 years of liver transplant survival!

Now, you have to understand, with his autoimmune disease PSC that he was born with, this is no small accomplishment!

He made this animated video to tell his story of both transplants and his relisting to the liver transplant waiting list. Watch Benjamin Hummel’s Transplant Story.

Life isn’t always easy and pain free… but it is something to cherish.

You can check out his art and support the mission to celebrate life at PaintingForLife.com and Facebook!

Kreativ Blogger Award nominated by Jen Goode

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Kreativ BloggerI never expected my blog to be nominated for an award. I am honored to accept the Kreativ Blogger award from fellow art licensing artist, internet guru and renowned penguin artist, Jen Goode – jgoode.com.

The Kreativ Blogger award originated in May 2008 in a post by Huldas Verden, a blogger from Norway. This award comes with the following requirements.

The Rules

  1. You must thank the person who has given you the award.
  2. Copy the logo and place it on your blog.
  3. Link the person who has nominated you for the award.
  4. Name 7 things about yourself that people might find interesting.
  5. Nominate 7 other Kreativ Bloggers.
  6. Post links to the 7 blogs you nominate.
  7. Leave a comment on each of the blogs to let them know they have been nominated. (Note – like Jen I used other social media methods to notify each person since it doesn’t make sense to post something this cool as a plain old comment on an unrelated blog post.)

7 things of Interest About Me

  1. I am inspired by Art Deco, Art Nouveau and the Red Rose Girls of early American illustration history.
  2. I knew I wanted to be a professional artist since I was 12 years old and took my first college art classes when I was 16.
  3. Hiking to beautiful places and painting en plein air with my little set of watercolors is a great joy.
  4. I am super inspired by many mediums and constantly experiment with new approaches to image making.
  5. I enjoy problem solving, it keeps me up late at night sometimes, but I love the thrill of putting it all together.
  6. Swing dancing is a favorite past time. My first date was Swing dancing with my sweetheart, now husband, Benjamin Hummel. We have no plans to stop dancing any time soon.
  7. I am enthusiastic about meeting new artists and getting them “linked in” with great educational information and resources. I guess this is why I like to teach at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design too!

My Art Licensing Story Video

Friday, March 12th, 2010

A short while back art licensing artist and educator Tara Reed encouraged us artists to make a video of our art licensing story to share on online. Now, I am a little camera shy, but decided to give that web cam a try after a little more prompting from Tara and my art licensing friend Jen Goode. I am also very blessed to have a husband and business partner, Benjamin Hummel who thought the idea of animating my fireflies would be a fun project. He stayed with his vision and directed and edited the whole thing for me. So in short, this fun little video came together and is now LIVE on my YouTube channel for your viewing pleasure.

FrameChangers Media Company Information

After falling into the TV and Computer time-trap, creator and founder Jennifer Cybart needed to surround herself with encouraging words from the Bible in a new way! The traditional scripture written on note cards got lost and her kids used her Bible as a coloring book.

Inspired to put God’s Word and digital devices together, Jennifer decided to create FrameChangers as scripture art for your TV, Computer, Digital Picture Frames, iPhone and iPod Touch. There are collections to meet the needs of women, men and kids with verses and art targeted for each individual.

Seeing God’s Word in an artistic way on digital devices is an emotional and memorable experience,” says Jennifer. She recruited her engineer husband, Adam, to ensure the highest quality product and with the help of graphic designers, web developers, and many supportive friends, FrameChangers became a reality.

As for the name FrameChangers? She credits divine inspiration. God wants to change our frame of mind. (Romans 12:2)

Prayer Posies Childrens Book, CD & Note Card Set from PaintingForLife.com

About the artists:

Cherish Flieder and Benjamin Hummel are both dedicated to painting for life. Benjamin is a two-time liver transplant survivor who was among the first children to be transplanted for a rare auto immune system disorder affecting his liver. Cherish grew up in a large family where her parents and grandparents helped to raise many special needs foster children and adopted several of them as well. Every day has challenges of its own, but this couple looks for ways to celebrate the good things in life in spite of all difficulties.

Cherish and Benjamin met at Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design and later married with the hope to use their artist abilities to enhance the lives of others around them. This native Colorado team illustrates children’s books as well as designs a line of art, cards, limited edition prints and other gift products with their brand at PaintingForLife.com.
