The Meaning of a Pear Tree
Longevity, justice, strength, fruitfulness & salvation…the meaning of a pear tree.
Recently, I updated my site header to include a pear that I painted as a part of my “Partridge in a Pear Tree” art licensing collection. It is now going on my new run of business cards. So, I got to thinking, what does a PEAR or PEAR TREE symbolize anyway? Since it is an embedded part of my updated branding I just had to find out.
There are many articles on the meaning of a pear tree from different countries and cultures (here is one from eHow), but this is the sum of what the PEAR represents:
- longevity
- justice
- strength
- fruitfulness
- salvation
Not, bad. Definitely all things I aspire to in my illustration career, especially when it comes to making art and helping my clients. So, I think I will keep it around for a while.
I would be interested to read more about peer tree
Hi Cherish,
First seeing the name – very deep yet beautiful…
My wife and I are doing foto shoots with a team of wedding planners, photographers, a stylist at a venue covered with many huge pear trees. It makes sense to me now why so many pear trees at this wedding venue.
Well, I mentioned to my wife a possible new name to consider for our daughters to be:)
Your illustration business with kids and marketing seems very interesting/compatible towards our calling amongst the poor and very much the children.
Peace with you and your ministry.

Hi Cherish,
I love your pears! It’s great that pears represent some wonderful things in life like longevity, justice, and strength. When I see an illustration or photo of pears, they always look pleasent & peaceful to me…don’t know why, they just seem to pull me that direction. When I took a gander on-line just now, I also found that they represent “a comfortable life”. Sooo…wishing you many “happy pear” moments, Cherish!:o)
Hugs,
Vicki
Hi Vicki,
Thanks for your sweet response. Yes, they always seem peaceful and friendly to me as well. A “comfortable life,” I love it! You know, today is my birthday, I think I’ll have a pear for the fun of it. See you around Vicki!
Many “happy pear” moments to you too!
Cherish
Great symbolism! Very appropriate for what you are doing and for the type of person you are. Blessings.
