Celebrating Art & Licensing

So, the last year has been a little quiet here at SomethingToCherish.com because I have been devoting my main attention to create something very special for the art licensing community.

I am happy to announce that we are now celebrating our first anniversary on the new site I created called ArtLicensingShow.com.

I actually started working on a massive project 5 years ago. The goal was to create a private community where artists and art directors from companies who license art can meet online for the purpose of looking at art portfolios. With the Internet expanding exponentially, the ability for artists to gain visibility for their art is tremendous. However, with every great invention is another side of the coin. In this case, copyright infringement of all this easy to access art is skyrocketing as well. Also, with so much being available online in the open, manufacturing companies needing to compete in the product marketplace must have access to art that has not been previously exploited.

As a stop-gap, many artists who create art for these companies have created private, password protected portfolios. The problem is that there are literally hundreds if not thousands of artists and agents who are doing this, that is A LOT of passwords and URLS to keep track of. Who has time to login to all these individual sites? From my in-house experience, I can tell you that it’s not remotely possible for these super busy people to find time to do all of that. So, out of pure compassion for our art director friends, we needed to help them find another way to discover fresh, new, protected art without the hassle of all those passwords!

Art Licensing Show Home Page Gallery

ArtLicensingShow.com (ALSC) is a beautiful solution for all these problems. Now, art directors can login with ONE password and see tens of thousands of pieces of art, all in a SINGLE place. But it’s more than that, ALL of the artists and agents are in control of WHO sees WHAT. So, that means every individual art director will have a portfolio customized just for them and their business.

It’s easy for artists and agents too. Instead of having to manage a websites, passwords and emailing tons of email attachments to overloaded inboxes, all they have to do now is upload the art once, share it with the right people and include a link to their ALSC portfolio in their regular email communication. The portfolios are searchable by artists, so art directors can see exactly what one agent or artist has without the clutter of any competition.  However, if an art director is new and wants to search all the art by keyword or category that has been shared with them across the hundreds of entries, they can do this too.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. The site also has supportive groups, internal messaging, connecting privileges and a searchable membership directory!

Anyone in a business connected to art licensing is welcome to set up a free directory listing. Qualified art directors that need art for licensing can apply for complimentary access to see the marvelous galleries. Of course, artists who are interested in this new marketing tool to get their work seen and protected at the same time, check out the affordable membership subscription plans.
