Embroidery & Watercolor

By my artistic nature, I am an experimentalist. I am always looking for a new way to combine colors, textures, mediums. In college, I was thrilled when I learned how to combine watercolor and oil and maintain the archival quality. I also pushed the boundaries of combining digital and traditional mediums to the point where you couldn’t tell where one started and the other stopped. In art college, I was famous for my aptitude to master any number of mediums, individually or mixed.

So, with my adventurous attitude towards combining and creating. You can imagine how happy I was when I was hit with the idea of combining embroidery with my watercolor paintings. The textures of the two are unmatched and I had never seen anything like it before.

However, I have a great honor and deep respect for the history of the art of traditional embroidery. Many centuries women of the household would spend hours upon hours in dim lighting to create wonderful decorations for useful and decorative items. I will probably never be able to match their skill for this beautiful art form, but I share their passion.
