Here is Little Miss Sock Monkey sitting pretty for her very first picture. I just finished patching in her stuffing and attaching her adorable accessories. Check out her embroidery stitched ribbon flower for her little hat and her “Something to Cherish” designer heart flower ribbon belt from my Dala horse collection. I also pleased that I could find two buttons almost the same color in my massive, antique button collection.

I have never sewn anything like this before and I have never even owned a sock monkey! So, I was very grateful for the WCK VideoBooks™ DVD that was sent to me by our December sponsor for this challenge along with one pair of Original Rockford Red Heel socks. I literally was able to watch the DVD by When Creativity Knocks as I made the monkey come to life step by step. Ana and Megan Araujo were entertaining to watch (as always) and they both shared helpful and fun little tips. Thanks so very much ladies!
On a personal note, my Grandma Lila used to sew many kinds of stuffed animals, both little and big, as gifts for all her 13 kids and grandkids. Breathing life into this little gal, as I worked at Grandma’s old sewing machine, brought back many welcome childhood memories.
Don’t forget to check out the many other whimsical monkeys on the Designer’s blog ring today. (See “Designer Crafts Blog Connection” sidebar widget). Plus, do you want to win a DVD and supplies to make your very own sock monkey? Check out this link for more info!

A quaint little Swedish Dala Horse Wall Hanging I designed
with embroidery and button accents featuring my illustrated Dala Horse Ribbons.
Pinterest is something to cherish.
A place to save and share your inspiring images from the web in a single place, with ease.

To start, I have a random collection of clear votives holders hanging around. So, I decided to unify them a bit with some little white votives that I poured the last time I made candles. You may substitute any spring colored candles that you have on hand.
I knew I wanted something artistic on these darling little candles. After thinking about if for a few days I realized that I have these mini button pins all over the place! There were many options to choose from as I have been accumulating them for years. For my project, I chose three pastel colored 1” pins with my “Something to Cherish” embroidered watercolor art on them. For your project, select the mini button pins that you want to decorate your votives with.
Next, quickly go to your ribbon stash and pick out a lovely colored spring ribbon that will coördinate with your mini buttons pins. In my case, I chose a soft gingham ribbon made by my dear friends and Colorado neighbors at Creative Impressions.
Lastly, cut the ribbon long enough for it to wrap around the votive and then hot-glue gun it in all in place. Be sure to pin the button on to the ribbon on one side and add a little extra glue in the middle. Voila, the mini button is now the center of focus of a pleasant little spring centerpiece.
And that’s all folks! Wasn’t it easy?
Hope this little project brings a warm light to your spring schedule.

Our Designer Crafts blog hop theme for today is “Wedding.” Most everyone loves a good wedding and something else we might have in common is a love for chocolate! I decided to create a batch of dark chocolate almonds so you could see how this yummy treat could be used to add an extra measure of delight to such a special occasion.
To start, I whipped up a huge batch of dark chocolate covered almonds. Click here for the instructions on how to make these super delicious almonds, which are perfect for any occasion.
For the tag design, I started with a 8″ paper doily from which I cut a small 1⁄8 slice. I then cut a piece of white watercolor paper to the same size to which I glued the doily so it would have a sturdy backing. From there, I added watercolor accents using the official Pantone 2011 color, Honeysuckle. This is one of my favorite colors and I am sure many blushing brides will be surrounded by it this June!
On my tag I stitched the word “love” on a small rectangular swatch of white watercolor paper. If you want to make this craft for your guests or bridal party, any name, initials or word would be perfect substitutes. To top it off I added a pre-made ribbon flourish and hole punched the top. A strand of ribbon ties into a bow around the cluster of almonds in clear packaging wrap.
This is a sweet little treat and the tag itself becomes an instant keepsake to remember your special day!

Here is a charming vignette I created with watercolor paper, embroidery and Sizzix ScoreBoard Pro Frame & Frame Back w/Stand Die by Eileen Hull. I accented the design with a lovely little key and my brand new Valentine’s Love Letter embroidered ribbon by Renaissance Ribbons.

For my final craft for the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop I decided to continue with my Christmas theme in celebration of a honored family tradition… chocolate cherries!
The Sizzix Treat Bag topper die designed by Eileen Hull for was the perfect opportunity to create a presentation for these delectable cherries that have been made in my family for generations. I put this topper together rather quickly with the help of Sakura’s gold Sticklers and Plaid’s Folk red and gold Art Extreme Glitter paint. Keeping with the chocolate theme, a silky brown ribbon bow pulls it all together.
Enjoy!
Aloha! Today’s featured die is item number 656053 Sizzix Bigz XL Die by Brenda Pinnick as featured in the Sizzix Triple Play Blog Hop. Her elegant die made the core shapes which I formed into an invitation for a tropical escape. I combined the cool colors of the ocean in the watercolor paper with some warm natural fabrics, buttons and hand stitches for a textural escape from your average printed greeting card.
